What is Discipline?
Discipline is loving firmness which is necessary to carry out a successful life. It provides direction to the lives and it is the prevention before the problem arises. When we are working in a disciplined way we are working in tune with our habits than against it. It is harnessing and channeling energy for great performances. Discipline is not something you do to others, but you do for those who care about. Discipline does not mean to take up a belt and beating your child, But it is a systematic style of living.
Discipline is an act of love. Sometimes you have to to be unkind to be kind. We do not drink medicines according to the taste of the medicines. Since it is necessary to our lives we will drink whether it is sweet our bitter in taste. Like wise Discipline is a habit of life which will be at first bitter in experience, but will provide good results for our life. Everything in our life should be done in a systematic manner. Working in such a manner against your freedom will not be acceptable to some one. But once you try it in your life it will bring you huge success and you will start to love the disciplined lifestyle. Good parents are not afraid to enforce discipline because of the momentary dislike by children.
Discipline gives freedom
It is a common thing everyone says Discipline will take away freedom of the individual. Our instinct is to do whatever we want regardless of the consequences. Allowing a child to eat a box of chocolates could lead to sickness. One the other hand, the discipline of eating one or two piece a day can produce an enjoyable experience for a long time.
There is a misconception that freedom means doing your own things. One cannot always have what one desires. Many times it is not easy to comprehend the benefits of good values or discipline. It may seem more profitable, enjoyable and convenient to do otherwise. All we need to see countless instances where lack of discipline has prevented people from succeeding. Rather than the restraints of discipline pulling us down, discipline is really taking us up. That is what discipline is all about.
We have seen kites flying in the sky. A child may think the string is holding the kite from flying. But if we cut the string, the kite will fall down. Same is the case of life, where discipline is the string which binds the life to the success and prosperity. If the string of discipline is broken, the life will be a big failure like the fallen kite.
